Dear Friends,
Please take a moment to review the Conference flier for this years Big Book Step Study weekend in the Upper Connecticut River Valley. For the past nine years we have held the retreat at Gove Hill or Singing Hills. This year we have been led to hold the retreat at Plymouth State Park in Plymouth, Vermont. This location is just off Rt 100 in south central Vermont and is a popular route for many who want to see the green mountain state.
Several types of accommodations are possible. Lodging is available at nearby inns, resorts and motels. A Google search will show you many choices around the Ludlow area (Okemo Mountain resort). Lodging is also available in cabins at the state park where the meeting is held. Each cabin is fully furnished, with full kitchen and two bedrooms. A cabin sleeps six and is available for $560 per week however you must call the reservations call center yourself to make arrangements for the cabins at 1-888-409 7579.
Camping is available $5 per night and two sites have been reserved for 15 people but more space is available. The camping area has lean-to's, tent sites and camp fire areas. We are planning to hold an 8pm Friday night open AA meeting. Anybody staying out of the State Park will need to leave by 9pm. The conference will start the next day Saturday June 23 at 11am and we will have a barbeque at noon and finish step 5 by 4pm. The evening will be yours to enjoy, cook a meal at your cabin, go for a canoe ride, do some writing or go out for a meal at the many local restaurants around Okemo Mountain which is just 5 minutes away. We start at 9am Sunday morning with meditation, and then steps 6-12, finishing at about noontime.
We will hold the Conference at an open air pavilion called Fernwood which is a serene location easily accessible. If you wish go to
www.vtstatepark.org look for the interactive guide to see the specifics of the layout of the park and available activities.
